- Council of Higher Education extends special student status for earthquake-affected students by one more year

The Council of Higher Education has extended by one year the special student status granted to students affected by the earthquakes.

Following the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, the Council of Higher Education had previously decided that students enrolled at universities in Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya would be eligible, upon request, to continue their studies under special student status at other higher education institutions. The measure had been in effect during the 2023-2024, 2024-2025, and 2025-2026 academic years.

To ensure that earthquake-affected students do not experience disruptions to their education, the Council of Higher Education has now decided to extend the special student status for an additional academic year.
