2,425,560 Candidates Apply for Higher Education Institutions Exam

2,425,560 candidates have applied for the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) to be held on 20-21 June.
The number of applicants for the YKS was 2,560,649 in 2025, 3,120,870 in 2024, 3,527,443 in 2023, 3,243,334 in 2022, 2,607,715 in 2021, and 2,436,958 in 2020.
In a statement shared on his social media accounts, President of the Council of Higher Education Erol Özvar said:
“As the examination process consisting of the TYT, AYT, and YDT sessions approaches, we know that candidates are in an intensive period of preparation and are demonstrating great effort and dedication.
Dear young people, as the Council of Higher Education, together with our universities, we continue our efforts to ensure that you receive your education in a strong and high-quality higher education environment aligned with the needs of the future. We are opening new programs that offer new opportunities and strengthening our existing programs. We also continue to integrate fields that support digital transformation and sustainability into our higher education system. I hope this process, which marks an important milestone in your lives, will be productive and successful. I sincerely wish every candidate who has worked hard the very best.”
