- Applications open for the new term of the SAYZEK Academic Thesis Program, focused on artificial intelligence in the defense industry

- For the first time, third-year undergraduate students can apply to the program, with students carrying out their projects with industry mentors

Applications have opened for the 2026–2027 term of the SAYZEK Academic Thesis Program (SAYZEK-ATP), jointly implemented by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) and the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB). Applications will remain open until October 8.

The scope of the program, which aims to strengthen expertise in artificial intelligence in the defense industry and connect students’ academic work with the needs of the sector, has been expanded this year.

Previously open to final-year undergraduate students and students enrolled in thesis-based master’s programs, the program will accept applications from third-year undergraduate students for the first time this year. The initiative aims to bring third- and fourth-year undergraduate students and thesis-based master’s students into contact with the defense industry and the field of artificial intelligence at an earlier stage.

- Students to work with industry mentors

Under the program, students will carry out their projects and thesis work with the guidance of industry mentors appointed by defense industry companies. In addition to technical training, camps, and technical visits, students will also be offered internship opportunities at defense industry companies, subject to the specified requirements.

Students from a wide range of departments will be eligible to apply, including computer engineering, software engineering, artificial intelligence, electrical and electronics engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, materials engineering, and aerospace engineering.

Applications may be submitted individually or in teams of up to three students. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 out of 4.00.
