CoHE President Özvar Visits Şanlıurfa

After visiting Elazığ, Malatya and Gaziantep, CoHE President Erol Özvar visited Harran University in Şanlıurfa.

Özvar received information from Harran University Rector Prof. Mehmet Tahir Güllüoğlu about the studies and academic activities carried out at the university and met with academics at the senate meeting.

In his speech, Özvar stated that Turkish higher education has become a center of attraction for international students, especially with the development it has achieved in recent years. He asked universities to focus more on their international visibility and emphasized that by doing so, universities will be preferred more by international students. He stated that they closely follow Harran University as well as other universities.

Within the scope of his visit to Şanlıurfa, Özvar met and chatted with university students at a breakfast event. Listening to the students and giving them various advice, Özvar said, "Our young people closely follow new digital technologies and artificial intelligence, and are aware of the importance of speaking a foreign language. University life should not be limited to the campus. I recommend them to take advantage of internship opportunities, to always be involved in social and cultural life, to take part in social responsibility projects, and to actively participate in Science Communication Office activities."

Şanlıurfa Governor Hasan Şıldak, Provincial Police Chief Atilla Aksoy, CoHE Executive Board Members Prof. Naci Gündoğan, Prof. Erol Arcaklıoğlu, Harran University Rector Prof. Mehmet Tahir Güllüoğlu also attended the event.

Özvar then visited Şanlıurfa Museum, which is the largest museum in Türkiye in terms of indoor space and exhibition hall, and Göbeklitepe Archaeological Site, which sheds light on the history of humanity with its 12 thousand years of history, and received information from the authorities. He also visited Balıklıgöl and Halfeti.
