CoHE President Özvar Speaks at Opening of Export Academy

The Opening Ceremony and First Lecture Meeting of the 1st Term of the Export Academy, which was implemented within the framework of the cooperation protocol signed between the Council of Higher Education and the Ministry of Trade on August 13, 2024, was held at Marmara University.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education, stated that in a world where trade is globalized and competition is increasing day by day, raising qualified human resources is no longer a choice but a necessity. Özvar emphasized that it is of great importance to put theoretical knowledge into practice and prepare young people for the business world with practical training in order to increase Türkiye's export capacity and increase its competitiveness in world markets.

Özvar stated that the curriculum created under the Export Academy covers critical areas such as international trade, e-export, export financing, customs practices and market research techniques. He explained that the trainings provided by the Export Academy are carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Trade, and that universities support these trainings through Continuing Education Centers. Noting that Marmara and Ankara Universities have been identified as pilot universities in the first stage, Özvar said that the skills and certificates obtained at the Export Academy can be integrated into the micro-credit system in the future and evaluated within the scope of academic crediting.

Özvar said that lifelong learning has an important place in the future vision of the Council of Higher Education. He emphasized that it is of great importance to transform the knowledge produced into practice and integrate it into the sector as well as producing knowledge.

In his speech, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat said that the Export Academy, which was established in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and the Council of Higher Education to train the qualified human resources needed by the business world and to ensure that these resources provide added value to Türkiye in trade, is of great importance.
