Pursuant to Article 3 of Law No. 5653 on the Yunus Emre Foundation, educational, examination, and certification activities related to the Turkish language conducted outside Türkiye are to be carried out by the Yunus Emre Foundation.

Based on this law, the Foundation established the Yunus Emre Institute, opened cultural centers abroad, and began conducting a range of educational activities at these centers, including the Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS). Developed in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the TYS is administered three times a year both abroad in countries where Yunus Emre Institutes are located and domestically.

The next exam will be held on May 17, 2026, with the application period set between March 23 and April 17, 2026.
