The “Exam for Foreign Students for Higher Education in Türkiye” (TR-YÖS), which is held to attract more qualified international students to the universities in Türkiye, will be held in 88 centers across 60 countries.

2025 TR-YÖS/1, which will be held in 59 countries and 69 centers outside Türkiye, will be held in 18 provinces and 19 centers in Türkiye.

International students wishing to study in Turkish higher education institutions can take the 2025 TR-YÖS/1 and use the exam results when applying for admission to these institutions. The exam will be held on May 11 this year. Applications for 2025-TR-YÖS/1 can be made between February 13-March 12 on ÖSYM's website. Late applications can be made between March 18-20.

The exam, offered in six languages—Turkish, English, German, French, Arabic and Russian—will be available in the 88 centers across 60 countries.

Since last year, state universities no longer conduct their own exams for international student admissions, instead accepting TR-YÖS results or high school qualifications such as IB, Abitur, GCE AL, all recognized by the Council of Higher Education. Foundation universities can also admit students based on TR-YÖS results. Additionally, the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) uses TR-YÖS for its student admissions.

International students who are in their final year of high school or have already graduated must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible to take the exam:

· Foreign nationals,

· Foreign nationals who renounced Turkish citizenship / blue card holders

· Dual nationals who become naturalized Turkish citizens after subsequently acquiring citizenship as a foreign national,

· Turkish citizens who completed their high school education in high schools abroad (except the high schools in the TRNC) and dual nationals, one of which is Turkish nationality,

· TRNC nationals who completed their entire secondary education (high school) in a foreign country

The Council of Higher Education initiated TR-YÖS to simplify the application process for international candidates wishing to study in Türkiye. The first TR-YÖS exam was held in 2023.
