Grants for Lecturers in Three Provinces in Earthquake Zone

With the efforts of the Council of Higher Education and the approval of the
Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, the rate of development allowance to
be paid to academic staff working in Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Malatya,
which are among the earthquake zones, has been increased.
The development grant of academic staff working at universities in these
provinces will be increased by 250 percent for 18 months.
The Presidential Decree Amending the Decree on Development Grant Allowance
was published in the Official Gazette. Accordingly, the development grant
to be paid to academics working at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University,
İskenderun Technical University, Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University,
Kahramanmaraş İstiklal University, İnönü University and Malatya Turgut Özal
University will be applied at the rate of 250 percent for 18 months.
Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education, expressed his
gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for the great importance and
support he has given to higher education by approving the regulation they
made to encourage the employment of academic staff in the earthquake zone.
Özvar wished that the regulation would be beneficial for academic staff and
the higher education community.
