1st Malaysia-Türkiye Interuniversity Forum Held to Improve Cooperation
between Turkish and Malaysian Universities

The 20th Eurasian Higher Education Summit 2025 (EURIE), organized by the
Eurasian Universities Association (EURAS) in Istanbul for the 10th time
this year, will be held at Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar Congress Center on April
8-10.
In addition to Türkiye, more than 400 representatives of higher education
institutions from more than 60 countries from Europe, Asia, America and
Africa are participating in the summit.
On the second day of the summit, the Malaysia-Türkiye Interuniversity Forum
was held under the chairmanship of CoHE Deputy President Prof. Haldun
Göktaş, and Prof. Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Higher Education of
Malaysia, with the participation of the rectors of the leading universities
of both countries.
Delivering the opening speech of the forum, CoHE Deputy President Göktaş
stated that they encourage and support Turkish universities to engage in
academic cooperation in the international arena.
Malaysian Higher Education Minister Kadir emphasized the need to share
experiences in the field of higher education between the two countries. He
pointed out that student and academic mobility is an important part of this
cooperation.
CoHE Member Prof. Derviş Karaboğa gave information about the studies on
artificial intelligence at Turkish universities. Middle East Technical
University (METU) Rector Prof. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, Istanbul Technical
University Rector Prof. Hasan Mandal, Ankara University Rector Prof. Necdet
Ünüvar, Gebze Technical University Vice Rector Prof. Elif Damla Arısan and
Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Rector Prof. Nuri Aydın gave information
about their universities to Malaysian university representatives.
Representatives of Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi
PETRONAS, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia,
Sunway University, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak also participated in the
forum and made presentations about their universities.
“Panel on Internationalization of Turkish Higher Education”
Within the scope of EURIE 2025, a panel on “Internationalization of Turkish
Higher Education” was organized by the Council of Higher Education.
In the panel moderated by CoHE Deputy President Prof. Haldun Göktaş, the
internationalization goals of Turkish higher education were explained to the
participants. Participants showed great interest in the panel.
CoHE Executive Board Member Prof. Naci Gündoğan made presentations on
“Higher Education System in Türkiye”, CoHE Member Prof. Derviş Karaboğa
made presentations on “Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in Higher
Education in Türkiye” and Mustafa Efe, Head of International Relations
Department of the Council of Higher Education, made presentations on
“Internationalization of Higher Education in Türkiye".
After the panel, Prof. Mustafa Aydın, President of the Eurasian
Universities Association (EURAS), thanked the representatives of the
Council of Higher Education for their participation and presented a plaque.
