Turkish Universities Among Top Universities with their Green Campuses

According to the 2024 Green University Index Platform (UI GreenMetric),
Turkish universities rose to the top in the rankings with their green
campuses. With 94 universities ranked in the top 1000, Türkiye ranked first
in the world in this field.
In the ranking of the world's greenest universities, six universities from
Türkiye took place in the top 100. Türkiye ranked second after Italy (7) in
Europe and fifth in the world in the ranking of countries with the most
universities in the top 100. Istanbul Technical University (ITU) ranked
38th, Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ) 59th, Erciyes University 80th,
Özyeğin University 82nd, Ege University 88th and Yeditepe University 90th.
A total of 45 universities from Türkiye, 37 public and 8 foundation
universities, were ranked in the top 500. With this number, Türkiye ranked
1st in Europe and 2nd in the world in the ranking of countries with the
most universities in the top 500.
In 2024, the Green University Index included 1,477 universities from 95
countries around the world in the ranking. A total of 118 Turkish
universities took their place in the list. Thus, Türkiye managed to be
ranked 1st among the countries with the most universities in Europe and 2nd
in the world.
