Towards Establishing Azerbaijan-Türkiye University...
CoHE President Özvar: Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip
Erdoğan and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, we
have made significant progress in our efforts to establish a university
in Azerbaijan.
Following the completion of the necessary legal arrangements, we will
realize the Azerbaijan-Türkiye University by providing affiliation
(twinning) with the most prestigious universities in Türkiye.

Türkiye and Azerbaijan are in the process of establishing an
Azerbaijan-Türkiye University in Baku in accordance with the joint will of
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
CoHE President Erol Özvar accompanied President Erdoğan on his visit to the
TRNC and Azerbaijan. In Azerbaijan, Özvar held talks on the planned
establishment of the university. During the talks, it was agreed that
academics and experts from the two countries would work on legal and
technical issues related to the establishment of the university.
He stated they had made significant progress in their efforts to establish
a university in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Erdoğan and
Azerbaijani President Aliyev and said, "We aim to take our diverse
relations with the brotherly country Azerbaijan to the highest level in
higher education. After the completion of the necessary legal arrangements,
we will realize the Azerbaijan-Türkiye University by providing affiliation
(twinning) with the most prestigious Turkish universities."
Özvar stated that there were around 35 thousand Azerbaijani students and
300 Azerbaijani lecturers at Turkish universities, and reiterated that
Nigar Ağazade, who ranked first in the university exam held in Azerbaijan
the previous year with a full score, chose Ankara University for her
medical education.
He stated that Turkish youth would also be able to study in Azerbaijan with
the establishment of the university, adding that the university would make
a significant contribution to strengthening the historical, cultural and
social relations between the two countries and furthering the permanent
cooperation in the field of higher education.
