CoHE President Özvar Attends ADIM Universities Meeting in Kütahya

CoHE President Erol Özvar visited Kütahya to hold official talks and attend
the Rectors and Administrative Group Meeting of the ADIM Universities
hosted by Kütahya Health Sciences University.
-Visit to Governor’s Office -
Before the meeting, Özvar paid a visit to the Office of Kütahya Governor
Ali Çelik. After the visit, he attended the Rectors and Administrative
Group Meeting of the ADIM Universities held at Kütahya Health Sciences
University.
- Rectors and Administrative Group Meeting of ADIM Universities -
Özvar spoke at the opening of the meeting held with the participation of 19
universities affiliated to the ADIM Universities Union and emphasized that
the ADIM Universities Union, which was established with four universities
in 2001, had developed inter-university cooperation with 19 universities in
the fields of education-training, R&D, technical services and
social-cultural services.
He pointed out that the rate of young people aged 25-34 who graduated from
higher education in Türkiye had increased from 17% to 35% only in the last
decade. He said that Türkiye came even closer to the OECD averages in
access to higher education and that they were striving to offer the best
higher education opportunities to the young population in Türkiye.
He noted that they aimed to discover and analyze invaluable knowledge with
the Big Data Project in Higher Education launched in the previous weeks and
reiterated that the report on Student Mobility in Transition to Higher
Education, which included graphics and tables created based on the data of
student mobility of each province and region, was published the previous
month. He also talked about their latest project.
-YÖK Academic Mobility Project is Launched-
He stated that the mobility rate of academic staff among Turkish higher
education institutions was low and continued his speech as follows:
“Therefore, we want to encourage our faculty members in well-established
higher education institutions to teach in relatively new higher education
institutions for a while and thus increase the sharing of experience. In
this context, I would like to express with pleasure that we sent a
correspondence to the universities this week about the implementation of a
comprehensive program that encourages faculty mobility between Turkish
universities.
With the YÖK Academic Mobility Project, the trained academic staff of the
well-established universities will be appointed to give lectures at
newly-established universities under the coordination of CoHE. In this
context, a correspondence was communicated to the universities to determine
the areas where it is difficult to recruit faculty members at universities,
especially at universities established after 2006. The appointments will be
voluntary for the academic staff.”
-International Hisarlı Ahmet Symposium-
CoHE President Özvar participated in the International Hisarlı Ahmet
Symposium organized by Kütahya Health Sciences University and made a speech
at the event.
-Özvar: “It is time to switch to face-to-face education in the new
academic year”
Özvar stated that they would start the new academic year without the
pandemic in the new period and said, "Thankfully, after a long pandemic, we
are approaching the new academic year of 2022-2023. The finals have started
or are about to start at universities. I know that part of it is over and
now the make-up exams have started. The new academic period is ahead of us
and we will leave the old one behind. If there will be no change in health
conditions for the new period, I hope we will have the new academic year
opening as before, free from the pandemic. As CoHE, I would like to
announce that it is time to start face-to-face education in the new
academic year together. I hope that we will begin face-to-face education
from the coming period,” he said.
He noted that they would continue to benefit from online education
opportunities and said, "After a long break, we care about the meeting of
students and academics in the classrooms of Turkish higher education
institutions and at campuses."
-Meeting with Students-
After the International Hisarlı Ahmet Symposium, which was held for the 12 th time this year with the theme of “Music and Climate”, Özvar
met and chatted with valuable students at the Prof. Fuat Sezgin Library.
-“The parliament will decide who will be included in the amnesty”
Prof. Özvar talked about student amnesty after the International Hisarlı
Ahmet Symposium he attended in Kütahya. He reiterated that the Turkish
Grand National Assembly was the authority regarding the general amnesty,
which had recently been on the agenda. He said that they were ready to
share all the knowledge and experience of CoHE in case the officials got in
touch with them.
-Visit to Universities in Kütahya-
After the meetings, CoHE President Özvar made site visits to Kütahya
Dumlupınar University and Kütahya Health Sciences University. CoHE
President also attended the Rectors' Session held at the Senate Hall of
Kütahya Health Sciences University. He attended the senate meeting with
Prof. Kazım Uysal, the rector of Kütahya Dumlupınar University. CoHE
President Özvar later met with the rectors of ADIM Universities at Kütahya
Dumlupınar University.
