​​ International Student Admission Examination (TR-YÖS) to be Held on January 29, 2023

TR-YÖS will be administered in six languages and in 17 provinces in Türkiye and 23 countries abroad

CoHE will recommend higher education institutions to use the TR-YÖS results in the admission of students from abroad

The "International Student Admission Examination" (TR-YÖS), which was launched by the Council of Higher Education to standardize student admission from abroad, will be held on January 29, 2023.

TR-YÖS, which aims to attract more international students to Türkiye, will be held in six languages: Turkish, German, Arabic, French, English and Russian.

The exam will be held by the Measuring, Selection and Placement Center of the Republic of Türkiye (ÖSYM) and will be administered in 17 provinces in Türkiye and in 23 countries abroad. It will be held in Adana, Ankara, Bursa, Edirne, Gaziantep, Hatay, Mersin, Istanbul, Izmir, Kayseri, Konya, Kahramanmaraş, Mardin, Trabzon, Şanlıurfa, Van and Kilis in Türkiye. The countries where it will be administered are as follows: TRNC, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Chad, Libya, Nigeria, Niger, Senegal and Jordan.

Students willing to study at Turkish higher education institutions can take the 2023 TR-YÖS and use its results when applying to these institutions. The exam will facilitate the application process for candidates from different countries who want to apply to Turkish higher education institutions.

The exam will consist of 80 questions

The exam will start at 11:15 am local time in Türkiye in all exam centers and the exam duration will be 100 minutes. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam halls after 11:00 am. The exam will consist of 80 questions, 40 from the Quantitative Ability Test and 40 from the Basic Mathematics Test.

Who can apply?

Applicants who meet the application conditions in the exam guide determined by CoHE and published by ÖSYM can apply for the exam.

• Foreign nationals,

• Those who are Turkish citizens by birth but lose their Turkish citizenship by obtaining permission to renounce Turkish citizenship from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and those who certify that they have a blue card, which is given upon request to those who lost their Turkish citizenship,

• Those who become naturalized Turkish citizens after subsequently acquiring citizenship as a foreign national/dual nationals in a similar position,

• Those who are TRNC nationals and obtained GCE AL exam results,

• Turkish citizens and dual nationals, one of which is Turkish nationality, who have completed their last three years of secondary education (high school education) in another country other than TRNC before February 1, 2013, or have completed their high school education in high schools abroad (excluding TRNC high schools).

-The exam results will be valid for 2 years-

The exam will be valid for two years starting from the exam date. The conditions regarding the methods to be used in student admission, the exams and scores determined by universities (such as TR-YÖS, Abitur, SAT, IB, GCE AL, Tawjihi) for candidates who want to get associate degree and undergraduate education in higher education institutions with their own means and meet the application requirements can be found on the official websites of the higher education institutions.

CoHE will recommend Turkish higher education institutions to use the TR-YÖS results for the admission of students from abroad and to facilitate the procedures for students.

Applications for the exam will be made online through the systems such as the E-Government Gateway, ÖSYM online application system, or by individual application from the application centers, depending on the application status of candidates such as nationality and country. Candidates are required to bring with them a 2023 TR-YÖS exam entrance card, along with an identity card with a photo or an identity card of the Republic of Türkiye with a photo, or a valid passport with a photo. Apart from these, they can also show a Blue Card, TRNC ID Card, ID Card of their country with a photo or temporary ID document with a photo and barcode that was signed and sealed by the related authorities.

-Announcement of exam results-

Candidates can find out their exam results by visiting the ÖSYM website, https://sonuc.osym.gov.tr , and using their ID/Y.U./TR-YÖS numbers and passwords. Results will not be sent to candidates.
