CoHE Gives R&D and Scholarship Support to Science and Engineering Students

The payment for the support given by CoHE to improve university-industry cooperation was made for the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year.

The support aims to ensure the competencies of students to meet the needs of the industry and business world, to increase their business skills, to get to know the job market, to increase applied education and internship opportunities in higher education, and to strengthen university-industry cooperation.

The internship fee of 14,201,766.22 TL was transferred to 4,788 students enrolled in the 140 undergraduate programs in science and engineering of 28 state universities, who completed their internship in the industry and met the minimum attendance rate of 80% for the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year.

Students were paid 35% of the net amount of the minimum wage for each month of the training they received in the industry with the contribution of İŞKUR.

A student who completed one semester (7 plus 1 Project) of their 8-term education in the R&D center or industrial establishment within the scope of applied workplace training and went to the workplace for 80 working days was entitled to receive 3,255 TL. The amount differs according to the number of days the student has worked in the workplace.

The amount of support that a student who has been working for 80 days can get up to 5,412 TL for the 2021-2022 spring semester.

The universities with the highest number of students benefiting from the support given to the industrial education of science and engineering students in the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year areBursa Technical University (580 students),Gaziantep University (508 students),Isparta University of Applied Sciences (500 students),Afyon Kocatepe University (402 students),Marmara University (341 students) and Gazi University (302 students).

The support encourages students studying at the undergraduate level in science and engineering to do a one-term applied training in private sector enterprises, technoparks, research infrastructures, R&D centers or industrial establishments related to their fields.

In this context, CoHE notifies universities of the conditions regarding the selection and support of universities, departments and students, who will receive industrial education support. The most important requirements are the reassurance of continued training for one semester for students who will receive industrial training support, the designation of institutions and the objective determination of the vocational skills that students will acquire in industrial training.
