​CoHE President Özvar: "70 Turkish universities entered the top 1,000 in the 2021 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings and 81 in the 2022 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.”

CoHE President Erol Özvar announced that 70 Turkish universities entered the top 1,000 in the 2021 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings and 81 in the 2022 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.

In his address at the “Pilot Universities Meeting for Sustainable and Climate-Friendly Campus Project” held in Konya, Özvar emphasized that three Turkish universities entered the top 100 in the said index, and 37 universities, 29 of which were state universities, in the top 500.

“According to the 2021 THE, QS or ARWU rankings, 15 Turkish universities were in the top 1,000, while three of them managed to enter the top 500.

In the QS 2022 Field-based World University Rankings, seven Turkish universities entered the top 500 in the category 'Arts and Humanities'.

In the QS 2022 Field-based World University Rankings, eight Turkish universities entered the top 500 in the category 'Engineering and Technology''.

In the QS 2022 Field-based World University Rankings, three Turkish universities entered the top 500 in the category 'Life Sciences and Medicine'.

In the QS 2022 Field-based World University Rankings, five Turkish universities entered the top 500 in the category 'Natural Sciences'.

In the field-based world university rankings of QS 2022, six Turkish universities entered the top 500 in the field of 'Social Sciences and Management'.

-81 Universities in 2022-

According to the information given by Özvar, 81 Turkish universities, 61 of which are state universities and 20 are foundation universities, were among the top 1,000 universities in the 2022 Green University Index (UI Greenmetric).

While four universities, including Istanbul Technical University, Erciyes University, Özyeğin University and Yıldız Technical University, were in the top 100, 41 universities (33 state universities and 8 foundation universities) managed to be in the top 500.

According to the 2022 THE, QS or ARWU rankings, 17 Turkish universities were in the top 1,000, while two universities, Istanbul University and Çankaya University, entered the top 500.

- CoHE President Özvar Holds Official Talks in Konya -

After the meeting, CoHE President Erol Özvar paid a visit to the Rector’s Office of Selçuk University and attended the senate meeting.

Özvar made a site visit to the campus by his environmentally friendly vehicle and opened the Selçuk University Museum, which contains 2,500 artifacts from different continents and civilizations. Then, he met with the students and had an interview. He also had a meeting with the rectors of the universities in Konya. Lastly, he visited the Governor’s Office of Konya and returned to Ankara after wrapping up talks in the province.
