CoHE Makes Changes in Decision Regarding Student Admission from Abroad

December 22, 2021

The decision of the CoHE General Assembly regarding the admission of students from abroad, dated 23 June 2021, has been amended.

The new changes are as follows:

1. The previous decision to hold the Central International Student Admission Exam (MYÖS) was cancelled. Instead, it was decided to hold the "Turkish International Student Admission Exam” (TR-YÖS).

The first TR-YÖS Exam, which will be carried out by ÖSYM, will be held in January 2023. The use of TR-YÖS results in the admission of students from abroad will be recommended to higher education institutions by the Council of Higher Education.

The exam will be made in Turkish, German, Arabic, French, English, and Russian languages.

2. Those who have renounced their Turkish citizenship/Blue Card holders and TRNC nationals, who will enroll in secondary education institutions in Turkey starting from the 2022-2023 academic year, and foreign nationals (except those in embassy schools and international private education institutions in the MOBIS system) will only be able to enter higher education institutions by taking the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS).
