2020 CoHE Excellence Awards

The Council of Higher Education organized the fourth CoHE Excellence Awards Ceremony to encourage the studies, projects, theses and activities related to community services that are carried out through the scientific studies of universities.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented the awards to the winners in the opening ceremony of the 2020-2021 academic year that was held by CoHE at the Beştepe National Congress and Culture Center located at the Presidential Complex.

The “Doctoral Thesis of the Year Award” that is under the category of “Individual Awards” is given to both doctoral students and their advisors to highlight the relationship between lecturers and students and to show that CoHE attaches importance to this subject.

The following academics received awards in the category of “Individual Awards”:

  • In Social and Human Sciences: Asst. Prof. Melikşah Arslan and his thesis advisor Assoc. Prof. Saime Selenga Gökgöz for his doctoral thesis on the “Russian Presence and Ottoman Politics in Syria and Palestine (1847-1914).”
  • In Science and Engineering: Asst. Prof. Ece Ekşin and her thesis advisor Prof. Kadriye Arzum Erdem Gürsan for her doctoral thesis on the “Development of Electrochemical Sensors for Biosensing.”
  • In Health Sciences:  Asst. Prof. Ayşe Nur Oktay and her thesis advisor Prof. Fatma Nevin Çelebi for her doctoral thesis on the “Development and In vitro-in vivo Evaluation of Flurbiprofen Nanosuspensions for Dermal Administration.”

 The following universities received awards in the category of “Institutional Awards”:

  • Contribution to Local Development Award: Atatürk University was chosen for the award for its application on “Provision of Mobile Animal Health, Polyclinic and Education Services in Rural Areas.”
  • University-Industry Cooperation Award: Istanbul Technical University was chosen for the award for its application entitled "Nationalization of BOSIET and FOET Trainings with OPITO Accreditation and Certification​”
  • International Cooperation Award: Ankara University was chosen for the award for its application on the project entitled “Global Capacity Building Project for the Higher Education of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Production.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented the Institutional Awards to the rectors of the universities.
