Meeting of Deans Council of Faculties of Technology Takes Place at CoHE

The “12th Meeting of Deans Council of Faculties of Technology” was held to
discuss the current situation of the faculties of technology at Turkish
universities and to determine the measures to be taken to offer more
industry-related courses.
CoHE President Prof. M. A. Yekta Saraç chaired the meeting. The members of
CoHE Executive Board and the deans of the faculties of technology attended
the event.
In his opening speech, CoHE President Saraç reinitiated that CoHE had
organized many meetings with councils consisting of several faculty deans
during his period of office. He said that they had been evaluating all
opinions and suggestions communicated to them in these meetings and that
they would implement the suggestions of the Deans Council of Faculties of
Technology.
- There are around 40 thousand students in 21 faculties of technology.
He emphasized that they needed to try harder to increase the ratio of
enrolled students in these faculties and to have more students of
vocational high school pursue their studies in these faculties to reinforce
vocational secondary education.

with industry
CoHE President said that they thought it was important for students to
spend one term out of their eight terms in the industrial area, adding they
had carried out some successful projects. He noted that they would review
the periods of study of these faculties and that they would do everything
in their power to train graduates with high skills for the industry by
allowing them to use their skills in the industry.
Following his speech, CoHE President Saraç answered the questions of the
deans. Then, Prof. Mehmet Sarıbıyık, Term President of the Deans Council of
Faculties of Technology, made a presentation entitled “The Current
Situation of Faculties of Technology, Implementation Issues and Proposed
Solutions.”
The meeting was concluded after the participants discussed the issues on
the improvement of the quality of education, integration with industry and
implementation, as well as the measures to be taken regarding the issues
under the moderation of CoHE Executive Board Member Prof. Ömer Açıkgöz.
