“Today, our country is a global actor. It is in a great race and is
determined to continue this great race ahead,” he said.
He emphasized that they had put forward the target-based
internationalization in the works of the New CoHE and that they made a plan

CoHE President said that the number of international students, which was 48
thousand four years ago, had exceeded 150 thousand with the initiatives. He
underlined that 233 joint/double degree protocols were signed between
Turkish universities and universities abroad.
“In the last four years, Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) were signed with
34 countries, including Malaysia, at the level of the President of the
Council of Higher Education and the Minister of the relevant country. These
MoUs have increased the number of recognized universities, international
students coming to our country, academic cooperation, joint programs and
academic and student mobility and contributed enormously to the
international visibility of our country in the field of education,” he
said.
He noted that all these processes and developments increased their pursuit
of reliable international cooperation.
“At this point, Malaysia stands out as a friendly country which we want to
increase cooperation with as it has universities, which are gradually
rising in international ratings, has a quality education system, and is
unique, especially in the field of technology.
For the 2018-2019 academic year, the number of Malaysian students in our
country is 215.169, consisting of 108 female students and 107 male
students. 169 of these students are studying for an undergraduate degree,
36 of them are studying for a Master’s degree, and 10 of them are studying
for a PhD degree.
Each Malaysian student will contribute to the common future of the lands
far away from each other but are close in the sense of friendship since the
Ottoman Period. We hope to provide a starting point for the collaboration
of future academics, primarily by increasing the number of graduate
exchange students.
On the occasion of your visit, I invite all of our universities to increase
the number of both faculty member and graduate exchange programs,” he said.
