CoHE President Özvar Visits Uzbekistan to Attend Second Uzbek-Turkish
Educational Forum
An implementation memorandum of understanding on cooperation in higher
education was signed between Türkiye and Uzbekistan.
Özvar: "We signed an important memorandum of understanding here today.
We opened the door to important cooperation in graduate education
between Turkish and Uzbek universities."
"We are holding the second forum on higher education between Türkiye
and Uzbekistan. This forum aims to bring together the administrators of
Turkish and Uzbek universities and to further the cooperation between
the universities of both countries."

An implementation memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation in
the field of higher education was signed between the Council of Higher
Education of Türkiye and the Council of Higher Education of Uzbekistan.
In response to the invitation of Odil Abdurakhmanov, Education Advisor to
the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and President of the Council of
Higher Education of Uzbekistan, Erol Özvar, President of the Council of
Higher Education of Türkiye, traveled to Samarkand to participate in the
Second Uzbek-Turkish Education Forum organized by Tashkent State Transport
University and Ege University under the title of "Technological Social
Benefits and Sustainable Goals for Scientific Cooperation".
During the visit, CoHE President Erol Özvar and Odil
Abdurakhmanov, President of the Council of Higher Education of Uzbekistan,
signed the Implementation Memorandum of Understanding envisaging the
development of bilateral cooperation in higher education.
Özvar stated that the cooperation between Türkiye and Uzbekistan would
continue with new areas in the field of higher education following the
signing of the MoU, and noted that master's and doctoral programs would be
among the priority goals.
"We have signed an important MoU here today. The MoU will open the door to
important cooperation between the universities in Türkiye and Uzbekistan at
the graduate level. Hopefully, we will facilitate cooperation opportunities
between the universities of both countries at the master's and doctoral
level," he said.
He stated that he visited Uzbekistan to participate in the forum and
emphasized that this forum would make a significant contribution to the
further development of relations between the two countries.
"We create a remarkable interaction"
Özvar said that the forum was being held for the second time and added:
"Our aim with this forum is to bring together the administrators of Turkish
and Uzbek universities and to further the cooperation between the
universities of both countries."
He noted that the rectors discussed the possibilities of cooperation
between the universities and signed agreements at the forum and said:
"This cooperation aims to further the current relations between the two
countries regarding higher education, to bring the mobility of academics
and students to a new level in both countries, and to create joint projects
by bringing together the research capacities of our universities.
This forum actually carries the scientific and technological agreements and
cooperation between the universities of the two countries even further. We
are creating a remarkable interaction here as rectors, academics and
administrators."
He stated that the next forum would be held in Türkiye and that the results
of the projects that were signed at the forum would be evaluated at the
next forum.
He said that the universities of both countries were working on joint
projects and that they were cooperating in the fields of natural and
renewable energy, especially considering the environmental disasters that
had occurred in recent years.
He said that important studies would be carried out between the
universities of the two countries in some engineering and agriculture
fields, especially in textile engineering.
The cooperation between Türkiye and Uzbekistan in the field of higher
education has long been going on. There are four joint education program
protocols signed between the higher education institutions of the two
countries. The number of cooperation between Turkish and Uzbekistan
universities has reached 149.
