2021 YÖK Excellence Awards

The Council of Higher Education organized the fifth CoHE Excellence Awards
Ceremony to encourage the studies, projects, theses and activities related
to community services that are carried out through the scientific studies
of universities.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented the awards to the winners in
the opening ceremony of the 2021-2022 academic year that was held by
CoHE at the Beştepe National Congress and Culture Center located at the
Presidential Complex.
The “Doctoral Thesis of the Year Award” that is under the category of
“Individual Awards” is given to both doctoral students and their advisors
to highlight the relationship between lecturers and students and to show
that CoHE attaches importance to this subject.
The following academics received awards in the category of “Individual Awards”:

In Social and Human Sciences:
Dr. Çağatay Akdoğan and his thesis advisor Prof. Ayşe Akyol for his
doctoral thesis on the “Analysis of Advertising Efficiency Through
Functional, Cognitive and Genetic Responses of Subjects Exposed to
Different Advertising Content”.

In Science and Engineering:
Dr. Houman Bahmani Jalali and his thesis advisor Assoc. Prof. Sedat
Nizamoğlu for his doctoral thesis on the “New Biocompatible Quantum
Dots and Nanotechnological Combinations for Optoelectronic Neural
Interfaces”.

In Health Sciences:
Dr. Sema Arısoy and her thesis advisor Prof. Tansel Çomoğlu for her
doctoral thesis on the “Development of Nanoparticular Drug Delivery
Systems for Central Nervous Systems and Evaluation of Treatment
Efficacy in Parkinson's Disease”.
The following universities received awards in the category of “ Institutional Awards”:

Contribution to Local Development Award:
Süleyman Demirel University
was chosen for the award for its application on “Regional Development
Acceleration Model with an Ecology-to-Economy Approach: SUDUM”.

International Cooperation Award:
Marmara University
was chosen for the award for its application on the project entitled
“Genomic Study of Congenital Immune Defects with Turkish-American
Consortium”.

University-Industry Cooperation Award
: Istanbul University – Cerrahpaşa
was chosen for the award for its application entitled “Internet of
Things Ecosystem Security Test and Evaluation Center”.

Public Service Award: Erciyes University
was chosen for the award for its application on developing inactive
vaccine against COVID-19 and conducting clinical studies with human
subjects”.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented the Institutional Awards to the
rectors of the universities.
