 | He was born in Sivrihisar, Eskişehir in 1951. He completed his elementary education in Günyüzü/Gecek village and his secondary and high school education in Eskişehir. He received his B.A. from the department of Turkish Language and Literature, Faculty of Literature at Atatürk University in 1976. He received his M.A. in educational sciences at Anadolu University in 1986 and his Ph.D. at Hacettepe University in 1993. He became an assistant professor in 1993, associate professor in 1997 and professor in 2003 in the Division of Educational Administration, Supervision, Planning and Economics. He worked as a teacher at Eskişehir Training Institute and some high schools between 1976 and 1986. After working in the Open Education Faculty at Anadolu University between 1986 and 1995 and in the Faculty of Science and Literature and Faculty of Education at Eskişehir Osmangazi University between 1995 and 2003, he worked at Manas University between 2003 and 2005. Upon his return, he began his duty in the Faculty of Education at Eskişehir Osmangazi University. He was assigned as a CoHE member from the Inter-university Council on 13 February, 2012 and as an Executive Council member on 6 March, 2016. Then, he was reassigned as a CoHe member by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on 27 February, 2016 and was selected as an Executive Council member on 17 March, 2016. Besides being an academic member, he has also served as a board member, senator, head of a department, vice dean, dean and vice rector. He took part in various projects in the state institutions and organizations, notably Ministry of National Education, and private institutions along with the in-service trainings and seminars. He took part as an editor, member of editors board member, member of editorial board and member of arbitration committee for numerous academic journals. He wrote articles published in national and foreign journals, declarations presented in various national and international scientific meetings, various books and articles published in popular magazines. Some of the books he wrote, coauthored and became an editor of are; Introduction to Teaching, Introduction to Teaching Profession, Organization Culture, Organizations and Cultures, Leadership of Education, Looking for Excellence in Education, Turkish Education System and School Management, Education Economy and Planning, Classroom Management, Total Quality Management in Education, School Ceremonies, Headmaster as a Person, History of Education. Prof. Şişman is married and has four children. |
