Abu-Sittah will talk about the truth about Gaza, which he could not talk in Europe, in Türkiye

CoHE President Özvar invited Dr. Gassan Abu-Sittah, Rector of Glasgow University, who was banned from entering France, to Türkiye. Abu-Sittah accepted the invitation and will give a conference in Ankara on May 27, 2024.

CoHE President Erol Özvar announced that Gassan Abu-Sittah, the Palestinian Rector of Glasgow University, who went to Paris to tell his testimonies in Gaza at an event organized in the French Parliament but was not allowed into the country, will give a conference in Ankara on May 27, 2024.

During Özvar's talk with students at Düzce University, a Palestinian student named Ahmad Omari took the floor and thanked Türkiye for its support for Palestine. Expressing their gratitude to the Council of Higher Education for opening the doors of Turkish universities to Palestinian students, Omari, a 4th year Civil Engineering student, said: “Our friends living in Gaza see what Türkiye is doing. We also see all the aids and follow them closely."

Özvar stated that Türkiye has always stood by the Palestinian people and emphasized that they will continue to support them. He stated that he had spoken on the phone with Dr. Abu-Sittah, the Palestinian Rector of Glasgow University, who was denied entry to France at Paris airport due to the ban imposed by Germany on him to enter Schengen countries, and conveyed his good wishes to him.

Özvar stated that he invited Sitte, who worked as a physician at Şifa Hospital and Al-Akhli Hospital during the Israeli siege of Gaza, to Türkiye and said:

"I told Abu-Sittah to come and talk about what he couldn't talk about in the French parliament at a Turkish university. He was very pleased and accepted my invitation. he will give a conference at Ankara Social Sciences University on May 27th. He will share his testimonies from Gaza with us."

Özvar reminded that Abu-Sittah testified as a witness for the genocide investigation against Israel before the officials of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, and that they hoped Türkiye would use the testimonies he would say in Ankara in The Hague."
