- “Regional universities will make contributions that will carry our
country forward”
CoHE President Özvar delivered a speech at the meeting. He started his
speech by stating that collaborative works would pave the way for both
regional universities and our society.
He reiterated that they gathered to talk about the activities carried out
by the Anatolian Universities Association in the fields of
education-training, research-development and social service, and its
university-industry collaborations. He said that universities with a
central structure should consider the needs of their regions and the areas
they specialize in. He reiterated that they should aim at differentiation.
“The members of the Anatolian Universities Association are also becoming
the center of attraction for international students. While the number of
international students at member universities is 7.9 percent of the total
number of international students at Turkish state universities, the total
number of international faculty members is 9.4 percent of the total number
of international faculty members at Turkish state universities. These
statistics should guide you in the steps you will take and the decisions
you will make. In this context, we also care about your contributions to
the accumulation of knowledge in your fields of expertise,” he said.
He underlined that CoHE attached great importance to the cooperation
between the Turkish universities specialized in both research and regional
development and all other Turkish universities, including state and
foundation universities, without making any distinctions.
Özvar concluded his speech by saying that the sharing of knowledge and
experience among universities had become extremely important for the rapid
solution of possible issues that may be encountered in the activities to be
carried out for the development of our regions and increase of scientific
production.
After the meeting, Özvar chatted with the students at the Student Meeting.
