CoHE President Özvar made an opening speech. He pointed out that university
associations were formations that connected higher education institutions.
He underlined that these formations did not only increase the quality of
education and research capacity of their members through cooperation and
sharing of good practices. He emphasized the importance of these formations
that would provide unique opportunities for universities to be successful
in national and international competition.
Özvar stated that the Anadolu University Association adopted an
understanding focused on new education models, university-industry
cooperation, high value-added products, international collaborations,
student and academic staff mobility and social and economic development as
its missions. “There is no doubt that this association, which includes the
institutions that have received the label of research university and the
Turkish universities carrying out regional development missions, has the
potential to provide its members with competitiveness thanks to its
diversity, cooperation, and solidarity.
“The project and incentive mechanisms that the Council of Higher Education
will develop in this period will be based on big data capacity, quality
standards, employment interests, strong academic performance, international
interactions, scientific productivity, new models of university-industry
cooperation and knowledge diplomacy of Turkish universities. Our
expectation from our university administrators is that they follow and
evaluate their institutions through these criteria in areas where they can
create a competitive advantage compared to other institutions. We believe
that the institutions that produce at international standards, make quality
publications, offer the knowledge they produce to the service of the
society and provide quality assurance in education and training will be
more visible in many aspects nationally and globally,” he said.
- "Universities will become more active starting from next year."
Özvar noted that it should be remembered that they would serve the Turkey
of the future and all regions, where Turkey had become a hope for, with
“higher capacity and quality universities” that they had worked to build in
line with this vision. ”I believed that the Anatolian Universities
Association and other associations will lead Turkish universities to a
creative network in terms of their goals, produce economic and social
values through groundbreaking research, quality teaching and innovative
outputs, and operate in a way that would serve the country,” he said. CoHE
President Erol Özvar concluded his speech by pointing out that the Council
of Higher Education would support all the activities that would be carried
out for this goal.
