CoHE President Özvar Attends Term Meeting of Anatolian Universities Association

CoHE President Erol Özvar attended the term meeting of the Anatolian Universities Association hosted by Kırşehir Ahi Evran University.

The rectors of the members of the association, which are Abdullah Gül University, Amasya University, Erciyes University, Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University, İnönü University, Kayseri University, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University, Sivas University of Science and Technology, Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University and Yozgat Bozok University, attended the meeting. The agenda of the meeting included the quality assurance system in education and the integrated quality system.

CoHE President Özvar made an opening speech. He pointed out that university associations were formations that connected higher education institutions.

He underlined that these formations did not only increase the quality of education and research capacity of their members through cooperation and sharing of good practices. He emphasized the importance of these formations that would provide unique opportunities for universities to be successful in national and international competition.

Özvar stated that the Anadolu University Association adopted an understanding focused on new education models, university-industry cooperation, high value-added products, international collaborations, student and academic staff mobility and social and economic development as its missions. “There is no doubt that this association, which includes the institutions that have received the label of research university and the Turkish universities carrying out regional development missions, has the potential to provide its members with competitiveness thanks to its diversity, cooperation, and solidarity.

“The project and incentive mechanisms that the Council of Higher Education will develop in this period will be based on big data capacity, quality standards, employment interests, strong academic performance, international interactions, scientific productivity, new models of university-industry cooperation and knowledge diplomacy of Turkish universities. Our expectation from our university administrators is that they follow and evaluate their institutions through these criteria in areas where they can create a competitive advantage compared to other institutions. We believe that the institutions that produce at international standards, make quality publications, offer the knowledge they produce to the service of the society and provide quality assurance in education and training will be more visible in many aspects nationally and globally,” he said.

Özvar noted that it should be remembered that they would serve the Turkey of the future and all regions, where Turkey had become a hope for, with “higher capacity and quality universities” that they had worked to build in line with this vision. ”I believed that the Anatolian Universities Association and other associations will lead Turkish universities to a creative network in terms of their goals, produce economic and social values through groundbreaking research, quality teaching and innovative outputs, and operate in a way that would serve the country,” he said. CoHE President Erol Özvar concluded his speech by pointing out that the Council of Higher Education would support all the activities that would be carried out for this goal.

Following the opening program, CoHE President Özvar had a meeting with the rectors of the members of the Anatolian Universities Association. Then, he listened to the presentations on “Quality Assurance System in Education” and “Integrated Quality System”.
