PRESS RELEASE
Today, news articles that state that CoHE decided on the establishment of
two faculties at Boğaziçi University after the Presidential Decree were
published in some media outlets.
The truth is as follows:
At the CoHE General Assembly Meeting held on February 4, 2021, it was
decided to establish new faculties and graduate schools at many state and
foundation universities and to change the names of some faculties and
graduate schools. This decision was presented to the Presidency of the
Republic of Turkey. Along with the faculties that were decided to be
established at other universities, Communication and Law Faculties that
were decided to be established at Boğaziçi University were also included in
the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette dated February 2,
2021.
In the reply letter given to the parliamentary question which was sent to
the Council of Higher Education, the date of the CoHE General Assembly
Meeting was inadvertently stated as 24.02.2021 instead of 04.02.2021.
This mistake is a purely technical and human error, and the Council will
take the necessary measures and be more attentive and sensitive to avoid
the recurrence of similar mistakes from now on.
