Announcement Regarding Amendment in Recognition and Equivalence Procedures for Overseas Distance Education

The following provision was included in Article 10 titled “Recognition and Equivalence Procedures for Distance Education” of the Regulation on the Recognition and Equivalence of Foreign Higher Education Diplomas after being published in the Official Gazette dated 14/4/2020 and numbered 31099.

“Except for the diplomas received from medicine, law, engineering, architecture, dentistry, pharmacy, teaching and health fields with clinical practice determined by the Board, the diplomas received through distance education from universities listed in the top 400 of one of the rankings of the world university ranking institutions determined by the Council in the year when the academic year has started will be accepted for equivalence procedures without the application of SYBS (Level and Competence Evaluation System).”

The ranking institutions determined by the Council of Higher Education are as follows:

- Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU)

- CWTS Leiden Ranking

- QS World University Rankings

- Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings

- University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP)
