‘STUDY IN TURKEY' TO BE MEETING POINT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Nov 25, 2013 / Eskişehir

The President of the Council of Higher Education (CoHE), Prof. Dr. Gökhan Çetinsaya, made a speech about the activities related to ‘Study in Turkey' website at the opening of Bologna Coordination Committee meeting held with the participation of rectors and vice-rectors of Turkish universities at Eskişehir Osmangazi University.

‘Study in Turkey' (www.studyinturkey.gov.tr), a platform presenting Turkish universities for International Students, aims to attract international students with ‘Key for Future' motto. The concept created with ‘Meeting Point' brand, intends to be a meeting point of Turkey in international arena.

Çetinsaya, the President of CoHE, started his speech by indicating the fact that internalization of Turkish higher education is inevitable and based on multilateral and multidimensional principles.

‘WE NEED PUBLIC REPRESENTATION FOR THE PROMOTION OF UNIVERSITIES'

The President of CoHE remarked that they attach importance to ‘Study in Turkey' website, prepared with a working team from Anadolu University, in terms of internalization of higher education and stated that they have felt the lack of such a website and resumed as:

"This study arose from a need. I visited fairs in Turkey and in abroad and have identified some deficiencies. The lack for public presentation was at the forefront. There are many websites like this one or with similar names to this website in order to attract international students. But these belong to commercial organizations or some non-governmental organizations. They are not at the point to represent all the universities in Turkey. Our goal is to implement a website which represents all universities alike.

'EDUFINDER' WILL EASE THE CHOICE

Informing the participant about the website, Çetinsaya the President of CoHE noted that the ‘edufinder' section is very important, if the program name is written in search engine, all programs in question in Turkish universities are listed. He added that searches can be filtered by 4 different methods as Turkish-English, State-Foundation, Metropolitan-Small City or Seaside-Inland.

Expressing that all universities have their own profile pages and asking them to update their profiles within a month, the President of CoHE told that the website will be supported by social media and some actors and actresses of popular Turkish TV series broadcasted in neighboring countries will be invited to contribute the promotion of Turkey.

‘WE WILL CARRY THE PROMOTION OF TURKEY FURTHER WITH THE NEW BRAND'

Indicating that Arabic will be added soon to the website which has been prepared in English, Turkish and Russian ,Çetinsaya stressed that the content study and feedbacks are very important and they expect contributions and suggestions from participants which is a tool to carry us forward and continued as: ‘We want that we can continue to prepare catalogs and brochures with the same concept which includes all universities in Turkey as well. We will carry the promotion of Turkey further with the new brand.
