CoHE’s Statement Regarding The News Article Published on A National Newspaper That Contains Accusatory and Untrue Information About CoHE
The news article entitled "Dismissed Because of FETO – Earned the Title of Associate Professor" by Aybike Eroğlu which was published on the first page of Yeni Safak on November 5, 2017, contains accusatory and untrue information about the Council of Higher Education.
It was written that the Council of Higher Education granted the title of associate professor to an individual who was dismissed according to Decree Law No. 675, pointing out to the so-called omissions by the Council of Higher Education.
As is known, Article 24 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 has given the permission of granting the title of associate professor and the administrative authority and duty for all process related to it to the Inter-University Council (UAK). It is impossible for the Council of Higher Education to get involved in this process.
We do not believe that the said newspaper published such an unreal news article about our institution with good intentions as the issue was clearly explained in the legislation and the said newspaper did not ask for our opinion on the topic.
In addition to the Council of Higher Education being wrongly accused, the precious readers of Yeni Safak, an important media organ in the press, and the public were also misled by this unreal news article.
We are sorry to see how ignorance has been recently presented as an excuse in journalism.
