Applications for 2017 Placement Test (Fall Term) (23.05.2017)

Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University will carry out the 2017 Placement Test for the fall term.

 

Application Date: May 24, 2017 - May 31, 2017

 

Test Date: July 1, 2017

Payment Procedure : Applicants shall deposit money to the account number to be determined by Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University through remittance/EFT by adding their identity number, name and surname in the explanation section.

“Structured Clinical Examination” To Be Conducted Under Equivalence (23.05.2017)

Applicants who were notified to take the second level of the Placement Test in Medicine (Clinical Sciences) by the Council of Higher Education can apply to the "Structured Clinical Examination".

 

The academic calendar for the Objective Structured Clinical Examination is determined. It was decided that the exam would be carried out by Ankara Yıldırım Bayezıt University in June 2017, by Ankara University in November 2017, by Gazi University in January 2018 and by Hacettepe University in March 2018. Applicants can learn more about the examination through the websites of the related universities.


Important Announcement on 100/2000 CoHE Doctoral Scholarship

It was decided that scholarship students receiving education within the scope of the 100/2000 CoHE Doctoral Scholarship would get 1,800 TL per month starting from September.

 

In addition, scholarship students may receive scholarships if they work as scholarship holders in the projects that are conducted by the Research Support Programs Directorate (ARDEB) of TÜBİTAK. The total amount of the scholarship should not exceed the monthly upper limit determined by the Science Board of the related year. The upper limit for 2017 is 2,500 TL.


Announcement on Application for Nomination Candidacy Regarding Rector Position for Ömer Halisdemir University (22.05.2017)

1. According to the provisions stated in paragraph (a) of Article 13 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, which was altered by Decree Law No. 676, a rector will be assigned to Ömer Halisdemir University.

 

2. Applicants can apply to the Council of Higher Education between May 22 and June 2, 2017, the end of business day.

 

3. Applicants should meet the requirements listed below:

a) Applicant shall have served for at least 3 years as a professor.

b) Employment of the applicant as a civil servant shall not constitute an impediment according to the provisions of the State Civil Servants Law No. 657.

c) Applicant shall not have turned 67 as of the date of the completion of the applicant's assignment to the rector position.

 

4. Academics who want to apply for the position are not required to work as a permanent staff or under contract in a state or foundation university if they meet the requirements stated in the 3rd paragraph.

 

5. Applicants should submit the letter of application along with the academic background and the list of publications that are written in line with the same format as the application form listed below.

Application Deadline for 100/2000 CoHE Doctoral Scholarship Exam Extended (18.05.2017)

Due to huge demand from universities, the application deadline for the 100/2000 CoHE Doctoral Scholarship has been extended to May 26, 2017, 17:30 p.m.

 

The printouts of the application forms which were filled in via the system must be sent to the Council of Higher Education along with a cover letter through the Rector's Offices.


Placement Test for 2017 Fall Term to be Conducted by AYBÜ (17.05.2017)

Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University will carry out the placement test for the fall term. The spring term of the test was carried out by Gazi University. The application and exam dates will be published on the website of the Council of Higher Education.


TDBB Support Program for Graduate Students (16.05.2017)

The Union of Turkish World Municipalities will support graduate students who are enrolled in master's or doctoral programs in Turkish universities and are writing their theses on Local Government and City Researches in Turkic Republics and Relative Communities in order to reinforce the understanding of urbanism in the Balkans, Caucasus and Central Asia in line with the academic developments of today's world within the scope of the "TDBB Support Program for Graduate Students.

Announcement on Recognition of International Higher Education Institutions (11.05.2017)

Procedures related to the recognition of foreign higher education institutions are carried out by CoHE within the framework of the Law No. 2547 and the "Regulation on Recognition and Equivalence of Foreign Higher Education Diplomas" issued in accordance with the abovementioned law.

 

The required information on the recognition of foreign higher education institutions shall be given to applicants after they write a petition with wet signature—you can find a sample of the petition at the official website of CoHE—and submit it to CoHE in person or by post. Applications through fax, e-mail and the like shall not be accepted.


Objections for Placement Test Results for 2017 Spring Term (09.05.2017)

Colombian Government Scholarship (08.05.2017)

The Colombian Government offers post-graduate scholarships for foreign nationals seeking to participate in specialization, master's and doctoral programs at Colombia Universities in the second half of 2017 through the Institute of Educational Credit and Technical Studies Abroad (ICETEX). These scholarships are non-refundable and include tuition fees, health insurance, monthly stipends, books, visas and the like.

 

The scholarship program is aimed at professionals who had a grade point average of 4.0 according to Colombia's 5-point system, have at least one year of work experience and are not more than 50 years old. Candidates must have been accepted in their desired program that is among the programs offered for 2017. They also need to document their knowledge of Spanish as all courses are taught in Spanish.

Request for Collaboration from European Higher School of Economics and Management (08.05.2017)

European Higher School of Economics and Management which is located in Bulgaria offers undergraduate programs in business administration, finance and accounting, tourism management and marketing and sales as well as master's programs in international business administration, corporate management, international business relations and accounting, analysis and control. The deadline for applications is April 15, 2017.

 

This request is aimed at Turkish universities wishing to collaborate with European Higher School of Economics and Management in order to boost ties with Bulgaria in higher education.


100/2000 CoHE Doctoral Scholarship Application Announcement for Higher Education Institutions for the Fall Term (05.05.2017)

The Council of Higher Education will offer doctoral scholarships in 100 thematic fields in state universities in order to answer the needs for people with doctorate degrees in priority fields in Turkey.

Higher education institutions shall make their applications regarding their preferred fields to the Council of Higher Education via https://webuyg.yok.gov.tr between May 05, 2017 and May 22, 2017. They need to fill in the forms and send them in a cover letter through the Rector's Offices to CoHE.

1- Higher Education Institutions need to authorize someone who will input data into the "100/2000 CoHE Doctoral Scholarship Application Form".

The Department of Personnel of the related higher education institution shall grant the authorization.

UNESCO-UNAM Jaime Torres Bodet Prize 2017 (02.05.2017)

Countries are invited to submit nominations for the UNESCO-UNAM Jaime Torres Bodet Prize in Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts 2017 which will be awarded by the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

 

The purpose of the prize is to reward the efforts of a person, group of people or international institution that has contributed to the development of knowledge and society through art, teaching and research in social sciences and humanities.

Nominations for UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science 2017 (02.05.2017)

The UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science 2017 will be awarded with the contribution of the Kalinga Foundation Trust, the Orissa Government of India and the Indian Government.

 

Authors, journalists, radio/television/movie producers, internet programmers and lecturers who contribute to the public's understanding of the importance of science, research and technology are expected to be nominated. Nominations or applications from individuals will not be accepted.

 

Nominations for the prize and support documents/materials should reach UNESCO by May 27, 2017.

Update on Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs (02.05.2017)

In the annual session of the Special Committee on the Charter of the United Nations and on the Strengthening of the Role of the Organization that was held from February 21 to March 1, 2017, in New York, the officials of the Office of Legal Affairs of the UN Secretariat gave insight into the practices related to the update on the repertory under the agenda topics of "Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs" and "Repertory of Practice of Security Council".

 

The United Nations expressed their gratitude towards the countries, including Turkey, that contributed to the related trust funds to be used in the financing of such practices and called for the countries to make additional contributions and present experts who can be assigned to update the repertory.

 

"Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs" which was prepared by the related units in coordination with the Office of Legal Affairs is updated as of 2009 and "Repertory of Practice of Security Council" is updated as of 2013.

Interested academic institutions that provide education in English are expected to review the decisions taken by the main bodies of the UN in a given period, prepare a review essay on a particular article and conduct a review under the supervision of a professor whom the Office of the Legal Affairs of UN Secretariat can have a direct contact with.

YÖKDİL Exam Results Could Be Used in Procedures for Diploma Equivalence (28.04.2017)

The rectorship of Anadolu University, the rectorship of Ankara University and the Council of Higher Education signed a protocol on conducting the Foreign Language Exam for Higher Education Institutions (YÖKDİL) on February 1, 2017.

 

It was decided at the CoHE Executive Council Meeting dated 01.02.2017 that the Council of Higher Education would recognize the Foreign Language Exam for Higher Education Institutions (YÖKDİL) and the Foreign Language Exam (YDS), that is conducted by the Measuring, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), as the foreign language exams.

 

It was also decided at the CoHE Executive Council Meeting dated 19.04.2017 that YÖKDİL could also be considered as an equivalent exam for those who are asked for a score from a foreign language exam for the equivalence procedure according to the provisions in the Regulation on Recognition and Equivalence of Foreign Higher Education Diplomas.
