Announcement on Summer Education and Make-up Exams (06.06.2017)
The Council of Higher Education considers it necessary to remind higher education institutions about the decisions taken regarding the summer education, the make-up exams and their implementation methods.
It was reported in the official letter of the Council of Higher Education dated 01.06.2017 and numbered 440/37394 that higher education institutions shall carry out summer education and the related implementations according to the explanations on the official letter.
In accordance with Article 7/c of Law no. 2547 which was amended by Law no. 2880, it was decided at the CoHE Executive Council Meeting dated 25.06.2014 that senates of higher education institutions of which there is no summer education shall determine the names of the higher education institutions where students can take summer courses. If university senates do not determine any higher education institutions, universities has to accept the courses taken from a program of a university that has a base score higher than the program of the student in the related year.
The decisions taken at the CoHE Executive Council Meeting dated 03.08.2016 are as follows:
a) Students shall take summer courses in other higher education institutions that are in the same city as the higher education institution where they are enrolled in if their higher education institutions do not open any summer courses or hold any make-up exams.
b) In the event that students are not able to take summer courses in another higher education institution that is in the same city as the higher education institutions where they are enrolled in, the higher education institution where the student is enrolled in should either hold make-up exams or open summer courses.
In case higher education institutions that hold make-up exams do not open summer courses, students shall take summer courses from other higher education institutions according to the decision taken at the CoHE Executive Council Meeting dated 25.06.2014.
