World Bee Day (23.02.2018)

The United Nations General Assembly adopted by consensus a resolution declaring 20 May as World Bee Day on December 20, 2017. The resolution was co-sponsored by 115 UN Member States including Turkey. With the activities to be organized for the World Bee Day every year, it is expected to draw the attention of the world to the importance of bees and other pollinators for the humanity and the world and raise awareness about this topic. It is also expected to contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and ecosystems, as well as to reach the objectives of sustainable development defined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

 

This announcement is for the academic staff and students of the relevant departments of universities, notably faculties of agriculture and veterinary medicine. They could organize various activities within the bounds of possibility to raise awareness about the topic.
